Who we are

The Young Alumni Council exists as a bridge between Furman University and its recent alumni. While channeling their voices, talents, and resources to strengthen the University mission, we seek to enrich engagement with both the undergraduate and postgraduate communities.

The council is comprised of 45 members across the last 15 years of Furman graduates. Members serve one 5-year term and meet throughout the year, both on campus and virtually.

Starting in 2026, an open application process will take place each spring to fill vacancies due to member terms ending or resignation.

In pursuit of its mission, the Young Alumni Council will:

  • Advise and support the University and Alumni Board on matters relevant to recent alumni.

  • Promote fellowship and engagement among Young Alumni.

  • Welcome graduating seniors into the Alumni Association.

  • Present the Outstanding Young Alumni Award each year.

  • Plan and execute at least one annual project that positively impacts the current student experience.
